Happy Friday Lovelies!

TODAY IS A TWO-FER DAY! Which just means, two looks in one post! 😉 So you might have seen the Mori Dress from Elegance and Elephants when I featured it on Monday for the Nature Walk Sewing Challenge. (If not click HERE), and today, I want to share with you the 2 tester pieces I made during the pattern testing process. Just so you can see how it looks in different fabrics and how you can dress it up with a little trim.

The Mori Dress and Top is inspired by the soft, whimsical characteristics of Japanese Mori Kei (forest style). The delicate flounces are inserted into princess seams to create a dramatic silhouette that will twirl just about as much as the beautifully gathered skirt. The fully-lined bodice has no closures or visible seams. Sizes range includes: 6 months – 8 years” – from elephantsandelegance.com

For my first test, I used Michael Miller’s Hop Skip and Jump Bloom (another one from Tamara Kate’s Nature Walk collection) and added some trim around the flounces. I really love this fabric collection, the print details are so dainty and it’s such a great print pattern for a sweet little Easter dress. Check out my center bunny! 😉

I meant for this to actually be a dress, but for whatever reason I totally forgot to blend my sizes and it ended up being just a little too short for her, so it became a tunic! haha

They were meant to be paired with leggings (as pictured) but it was such a hot day, we decided to just go with shorts!

I wasn’t satisfied with just the tunic, and I was curious to see what this pattern would look like it a more light weight flowy fabric (The pattern does call for LIGHTWEIGHT fabric). While the quilting cotton I used before was lightweight, I had some gauze in my stash that was even lighter and decided to use that. I have never sewn with gauze before, AND OH MY GOSH! I don’t know what took me so long! I love the soft daintiness and the drape of gauze…now I just want to sew all the things using gauze…haha!

I seriously couldn’t help but think Garden Fairy…

I love the drape of the flounces in gauze…look how pretty!

And then she stepped into some sunlight and I got the most perfect pictures! 🙂

What I love most about this pattern is that there are NO closures, which means that Abigail can put it on and take it off all by herself! It’s actually helped her feel a lot more independent than before, “Mom, I put it on myself!” …..it might have been backward, but still! haha!

If you like the look of the Mori Dress, and you love the idea of no closures then be sure to visit  Elegance and Elephants and grap yourself a copy!

That’s it for today guys! Wishing you a safe and fantastic weekend! Talk to you soon. xoxo
