Happy Saturday My Lovelies!!!
So, I hadn’t planned on doing another upcycle for Kids Clothes Week (You can view the FIRST ONE HERE)…. BUT I just couldn’t get this bubble jumper idea out of my head! We all know what happens when that occurs …I can’t function properly until I bring my ideas to life. TRUESTORY. This jumper fell way above Abigal’s knee, so it was a perfect candidate for an upcycle.
Here’s what I did:
First, I cut the jumper in half…
I decided I wanted pockets like I did for the first jumpsuit I ever made her (I blogged about that HERE), so I used the rest of the skirt to cut the pocket contrast ….
and then I used the main fabric to cut the lining of the pocket …
and the pant legs (I used Burda 5318 for the leg pattern, same one I used HERE when I did the Pattern Review).
I then attached the pockets to the pants. I just love how beautiful and clean the pockets came out. I have a thing for lined garments. lol
Then, I sewed AND serged up the sides of the pants and the inseam and I attached (sewed & serged) the top and bottom together.
Look how beautiful that pocket is! =) ….And aren’t those little hearts the cutest thing?! Loves this fabric from CottonandSteel. (You can find it HERE)
Lastly, I added an elastic casing at the hem of the pants, giving it that fun, bubble leg look.
And that was it! I was super simple to do and only took me a few hours. Now for action shots:
I swear we cut our grass two weeks ago! I think the rain brought some super growth with it. (haha)
Super cute right? I love it because its roomy, and fun….and most importantly modest. =) Perfect for her to run around in. I think I might be falling in love with upcycling…lol. Anywho, that’s it for now guys, wishing you a wonderful weekend! Talk to you soon!
Super duper cute! And an excellent idea!
All the best!
Thank you very much @Mareike =)
