Happy Monday Lovelies!
I’ve been traveling for the past week with limited internet access, so I didn’t want to make any post and not be able to readily respond to them, but now I’m back! =D Earlier this week I was looking for a pattern to create something for Sarah Jane’s Sommer Easter Dress Challenge, and came across The Tea Party Dress from Tadah! Patterns. I enjoy entering these challenges because it allows me to be creative within certain specifics and half the fun is pairing the fabric with the perfect sewing pattern. I’ve never come across a dress pattern quite like The Tea Party Dress. It has over 190 unique possible combinations! OVER 190!!! How could I not purchase it?! From the possible 190 combinations, I chose the scoop neck with flutter cap sleeves, a racer back and a gathered skirt. I adore the border print on this fabric and I think with that combination it made for the perfect Easter Dress. First I’ll share some action pics and then you can read my small review of the pattern at the end.
We were a little too early for the Easter egg hunt, so instead we picked oranges from Grandpa’s tree.
Pattern Description: The Tea Party Dress from Tadah! Patterns
Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 2 according to Abbie’s chest measurement.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern once you were done sewing it? YES
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The instructions were easy to follow. Very detailed and I especially love the glossary of sewing terms for reference. The illustrations were crisp and the sewing pattern was thoroughly labeled.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made 2 small changes:
1. For the back closure I used an invisible zipper instead of buttons. (You know my obsession with invisible zippers 😉 )
2. I honestly didn’t even look at the skirt measurements – I wanted a full skirt so I just used the entire width of the fabric and had one back seam. I’m especially proud of my seam matching here. *insert cheesy grin*
What did you particularly like about the pattern? I loved the fact that the pattern has 190 possibly unique combinations for a single dress! (Or top or tunic). I has 4 different bodice options – 4 different back options – 2 cap sleeve variations – 2 different skirt options – and you can chose from a high or low arm opening. The options are insane! I may never need to buy another pattern again! haha.
What did you dislike about the pattern? Absolutely nothing.
Fabric Used: Quilting Cotton. Specifically, SOMMER by Sarah Jane for Michael Miller Fabric.
Will I sew this pattern again? : Heck yes, I might even challenge myself to sew up all the combinations eventually, lucky for me that pattern goes up to a size 8! haha, I think I can do it in 8 years. 😉
And that’s to for today you guys, hope you had a very safe Easter and thank you for stopping by! Have a fantastic week! xoxo
