Good Morning Lovelies!
So October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I was inspired by @thethinkpinksewingchallenge (on IG) for this mornings blog post. I thought the #thethinkpinksewingchallenge was a wonderful idea and a super sweet way for @thethinkpinkchallenge to honor and support her mom who is currently also fighting Breast Cancer; she creates a pink dress a day for Breast Cancer Awareness month that features her super adorable daughter! Go check her out!
I decided that since I lost a very sweet Aunt to Breast Cancer a few years ago, I would also create something pink in her honor, for Abigail. Since Abbie loves to be a part of the process, I took out some pink prints and I let her choose the one she liked the most! She wasted no time picking her favorite! (And yes, she’s dressed as spiderman, no…that’s not her halloween costume, that’s a part of her everyday dress up routine. lol)
Since this was something very special, I wanted to try something different and appropriate for fall, so I decided on a peplum top with 3/4 sleeves. I used her tshirt sloper again to draft the bodice and the sleeves and did a little research on youtube on how to calculate the peplum part! It was a big tricky, but I figured it out after a few tries on paper! lol. I’ve been super obsessed with lining everything I make so, I had to line the bodice.
It has a two button closures at the back and of course, I had to add some trim and a super cute lace collar! (What can I say? I’m obsessed with trim and lace!)
Now for some action shots!
I absolutely love how this peplum top came out, although I think next time, I’ll make the neckline just a tad bit smaller! Have you made anything pink for this month? If you have I’d love to see them, tag me on IG on Facebook or comment here on the blog! Talk to you soon!!
I just saw this today in October 2019… I tried going to the site but it does not work ??? I would love pattern for this top..
Hi Debbie, there’s no pattern linked so I’m not sure what website you were referring to…I do know Bella Sunshine Design has a woven pdf pattern tho. You can check that one out, here’s the link for that: (aff) https://bellasunshinedesigns.com/?affiliates=CandiceAyala
The top is as adorable as the little girl.
Can you do me a tutorial sometime?
