It feels like forever since I’ve sat down to write a blog post, can you believe its already the end of 2017!? It’s been such an incredible year! Truthfully, much of this year have been spent working really hard building the SewingPortfolios.com network and finding ways to network and create opportunities for all our members that I’ve had little time to sew, and much less blog. *insert somber music here*
However, recently I did have the opportunity to sew up an adorable top for #theSpiritedOne to include in Episode #7 of #FabricFriyaaay sponsored by LA Finch Fabrics! She requested a “Rock Star shirt with a biiiiggg twirl” top to match her rock star boots and I thought the Sahara Top and Dress by Bella Sunshine Designs fit the bill perfectly! It was also the perfect opportunity to do a pattern review especially since I haven’t done one AT ALL this year! 😉
Pattern Description: – The Sahara Top and Dress by Bella Sunshine Designs
“This sophisticated and elegant dress / top is a must have in your child’s wardrobe. The design features a low scoop front and back; sleeveless, short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves, long sleeves and fully lined bodice. The dress/top has a full circle skirt that your child will love to twirl in. The design comes with three lengths; top length (hits at the hips), tunic length (hits below the bum), and dress length (hits just above the knees). It is a perfect dress, for every day and all year round!. – cited from Bella Sunshine Designs
Pattern Sizing: 6 Months to Girls 12. According to #TheSpirtedOne’s Chest Measurement, I made a Size 2 using the Top Length.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern once you were done sewing it? YES
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I’ve pattern tested for Bella Sunshine Designs before and the instructions and illustrations have always been very easy to follow. This pattern is labeled for a Confident Beginner so not complicated at all.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made NO alterations.
What did you particularly like about the pattern? EVERYTHING, but if I had to pick a favorite I would say because I’m very particular about clean finishes, I really love that the bodice is fully lined.
What did you dislike about the pattern? Not a thing.
Fabric Used: Designer Panne Crushed Stretch Velvet Bordeaux from LA FInch Fabrics
Will I sew this pattern again? : Definitely! Especially because this pattern also comes in WOMENS!!! You can find it HERE too. So maybe a mommy and me outfit in the future.
Where can you find this pattern? You can find the Sahara Dress and top in both Women’s and Girls at BellaSunshineDesigns.com
