Happy Thursday Lovelies!

It’s my day on the Duds for Dudes: Mabel Madison Blog Tour! And just in case you don’t know yet, Mabel Madison is online fabric store that carries a selection of European cotton poplin, jersey knit, fine-wale corduroy and many more beautiful fabrics.

On this tour, our challenge is to create something for our dudes using fabric from Mabel Madison; who were generous enough to provide the fabric for today’s post! I was pretty excited that this specific blog tour was happening in the month I designated for boy sews, so I quickly signed up! The timing was too perfect. Picking a fabric was hard with a pre-teenager who suddenly has no interest in anything. *womp womp comp* I decided on a beautiful (or handsome, in this caseChambray with embroidered fleur-de-lis accents –  I figured it would be just the right amount of “cool” for him. If you’ve ever sewn with Chambray you know just how lovely and soft and fluid it is, and this one did not disappoint.  My fabric shipped fast and I was very impressed with the packaging from Mabel Madison; there was even a bonus measuring tape in there for me too! #win

Now that I had the fabric, finding a pattern “cool enough” was the next step. He considered a few shirts and finally settled on the Cape Cod Shirt from Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop because he liked how cool the rolled sleeves looked. The only modification I made was using navy blue bias tape as a hem facing.

I’d say he looks pretty darn cool don’t you think?! He loved that the shirt was “really soft” and asked for more soft shirts like this one, so I guess I’ll be ordering more chambray soon! lol

Truth be told, while they aren’t as cute (lol), I find that I’m beginning to enjoy sewing for boys. Which works out wonderfully since I was just honored in being a Fairy Godmother/Auntie Can to a darling little boy who I get to  snuggle in a few short weeks! I can’t wait for that!  So, I’m sure you’ll be seeing many more boy sews in the future! Thanks for stopping by my stop on the blog tour today and be sure to check out the other fantastic lineups for today! Talk to you soon! xoxo
