Happy Monday Lovelies!
Welcome to my stop on the One Thimble’s Issue 13 Blog Tour! Blogging for One Thimble has got to be one of my favorite things about 2016! For Issue 13, I reviewed two of the ten patterns and today I get to share them with you!
SEW #1: THE RAGLAN PARTY DRESS
The Raglan Party Dress by Call Ajaire. The pattern runs from a size newborn to 12 years and features a color block raglan style shoulder, inverted pleats and an invisible zipper. You know I love me a garment with invisible zippers, and I was excited for the challenge to sew up some color blocked pleats. I had the perfect fabric for it too!! [ Fabric: Michael Miller Fabrics Moroc from the Seedling II Collection]
Look at how lovely those peek-a-boo pleats are!
The Raglan Party Dress pattern as it is now, does not come with a pocket option BUT a little birdie told me that this pattern will have a pocket add-on, so keep your eye out on the One Thimble Blog for more details of the addonS (yes, plural!) coming soon! I added mine a head of time because #thespiritedone is going through the “will only wear clothes with pockets” phase! And its literally impossible to get her to wear anything unless it has pockets. (They said between 2 and 3 years old was the most difficult and trying stage, they lied – it’s actually 4! #trustme)
I’m seriously in love with the peek-a-boo pop of colors, I think this dress and this fabric were such a perfect pair
And what a beautiful spin it makes!
Favorite thing about this pattern though, is that it was my first time adding an invisible zipper inside a matched seam, inside a pleat! I love it when new sews teach me something new. it took some careful calculation and patience, but it was totally worth it! #painsofbeingocd Look at how beautiful!
The lovely thing about this pattern is that depending what fabric you choose it can be a breezy casual dress or a fancy party one; patterns always get extra brownie points when they have that potential. #patternwin
SEW #2: THE ORBIS SKINNY HAREM PANTS
The Orbis Skinny Harem Pants by Sofilantjes Patterns. I know you’ve probably seen a whole lot of Harem pants patterns floating around, but this particular pattern has quite a unique look! The pattern runs from a Size 1 to Size 14 and can either be made into 3/4 length or full pants length. It has a draw string elastic waist, a very unique angled aux fly and fun and funky pocket placements. Pockets are a big deal around here, so even if I wasn’t sewing this up for the magazine, I would have definitely gotten this pattern. I’ve been waiting for a chance to use this adorable baby dragon knit fabric, for my own baby dragon (she was born in the Year of the Dragon) and I couldn’t think of a better pattern. [ Fabric: Michael Miller Baby Dragons from Sarah Jane Magic Collection ]
Not only are these pants stylish but they definitely win in the comfort department. Perfect for run and play.
Favorite thing about the Orbis Skinny Harem Pants, are the pockets! (I used some gold knit I had in my stash to make the ribbing and draw string. I also covered my snaps with the same fabric using my tutorial HERE)
This is the back of the pants, have you ever seen pockets like that before? Super fun right?!
And remember, you don’t have to buy the entire magazine, you can still purchase single patterns on the website HERE. BUT if you were to purchase the entire magazine here’s what you would get!
