Good Morning My Lovelies!
So if you’ve been out of the house recently I’m sure you noticed that Valentine is EVERYWHERE! Hearts, and Cupids and red things everywhere you turn, kinda hard to run from it. I went grocery shopping yesterday and picked up some cake ingredients because I usually make a loaf cake for valentine. This was the one from last year:
But Abigail decided, why wait until Valentine!? Let’s just bake now! I tried to bribe her with sidewalk chalk, but she was set on baking; trying to bargain with an almost 3 yr old can prove futile. Besides the ocean and being outdoors, baking is her next favorite thing. I figured it would be the perfect time for me to try out these adorable Wilton Valentine Mini Cookie Cutters with my Wilton Cavity Heart Whoopie Pie Pan to make some mini heart cakes. (You can find both here: Cookie Cutters: HERE. / Heart Whoopie Pie Pan: HERE)
They came out pretty good, so I thought I would share the HOW TO with you! =)
STEP 1: Prepare your cake mix as you normally would.
STEP 2: Separate about 1/3 of the cake mix into a medium bowl and add food coloring (This was Abigail’s favorite part).
STEP 3: Pour colored cake mix in a shallow baking pan and place in the oven to bake.
STEP 4: Once your colored cake is finished baking, set aside to cool and then use cookie cutters to cut out your shapes.
STEP 5: Spoon the remaining cake batter (the uncolored one) into the whoopie pie pan (do not fill up to the rim) and then place your colored shapes in the middle.
Press down so the shapes are slightly emerged and then place in the oven to bake.
AND WALLAH!!!! There you have it, super cute, super tasty valentine mini heart cakes!
STEP 6: (Optional) Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top (it makes it prettier & tastier!!) and share with your loved ones!
And there you have it! Easy Peasy Mini Valentine Cakes! Perfect for Tea Time Play with your Little (which is exactly what we did!) haha. Talk to you soon!
