So if you follow me on IG or Facebook, you know that I have been totally excited about Issue 11 of One Thimble Magazine, if you haven’t been and have no clue as to what I’m talking about, let me tell you! *big cheesey grin* I am one of the many article contributors to this issue, and I got to share my 10 Best Tips for getting started with one of my most favorite things: UPCYCLING! It is my first time being a contributor to any sort of magazine, so this was seriously a big deal for me, I’m actually still on cloud 9. (haha!)
BUT – this post is NOT about my article – you’ll just have to grab yourself a copy to see what I had to say there ;P haha (Here’s the Link)
I had the opportunity to sew up 2 of the 12 amazing PDF patterns in this Issue and I’m one of the stops for today on the Pattern Revolution One Thimble Issue 11 Blog Tour. !!! Forewarning !!! Brace yourself for a ton load of pictures!
First up, is the UNISEX Adventurer Pants by Rabbit Rabbit Creations.
These pants were perfect for Abigail the Adventurer and her love of deep pockets for collecting. I love it because its it really is unlike any other type of pants PDF pattern I’ve come across – it’s fun, funky, super comfortable and most of all CONVENIENT! Convenient for 2 reasons: 1. With the elastic waist band and cuffs She can pull them off and on all by herself, and 2. All the “treasures” she finds will no longer be stored in my pockets or purse! (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve emptied dead leaves and dirty “magic” rocks from my purse.). It’s the perfect pants for a day at the park, but on this particular day, we took a stroll down our street instead. I don’t know if you can tell, but the lover of purple picked the fabrics herself. lol
She decided if we were going to go “Adventuring” she most definitely needed a map. So she made one, then she collected her magnify glass and binoculars and off we went for a stroll down the block.
It got chilly very quickly, so we stopped for a minute to put on our jackets and check our map…lol (it really happened lol)
Walking those 40 feet was extremely exhausting…(lol) so the little Adventurer decided to take a break, “Because, thats what Adventurers do Mom!”. Apparently they also like to take off their shoes and feel the grass….lol
How stylish are those ruched side panels and twin stitching though? Super fun right?
The pockets of course, were her favorite thing.
It was also my first time doing a faux fly, and I must admit, it certainly adds a very professional finished look to the pants. All in all, if you’re looking for something fun, and funky with beautiful tailored looking finishes, that’s UNISEX (which always makes me feel like I’m getting a two for one deal), and that is guaranteed to make your little adventurer happy, and will keep the bottom of your purse litter and “magic” free, then I strongly encourage you to consider this pattern! It runs from a size 1 to a size 12. Remember, you don’t have to purchase the entire magazine, you can always just purchase the Adventurer Pants as a single pattern HERE.

Next is the Cross Over Flounce Dress by Call Ajaire. I know these pattern titles should be short and cute, but I think it really should have been called The Cross Over Flounce DressES or The 2 in 1 Cross Over Flounce Dress or the Reversible Cross Over Flounce Dress, because YOU GET TWO DRESSES FROM ONE SEW!! Turn it over and its an entirely new dress!
Abigail thinks its the most amazing thing, and since then she’s been inspecting all her clothes to see if they can all do that. lol She picked the grey and the pink for her dress, and I thought to myself, why not just keep the fun and funky theme going, so I picked another two matching fabrics to really make the difference pop.
I’m not sure which side I like most! They are both so fun and vibrant. And of course it did pass the twirl test. lol
The Cross Over Flounce Dress runs from a size Newborn to 12 years and has such a classic look. It was incredibly and surprisingly easy to come together. It’s reversible, has two sleeve options (cap or long), features as circle skirt and an option to add a back closure if needed, it definitely has the fun factor. If you’re looking for something fun, easy, and quick to sew this is a good pattern to have, and remember you can just simply purchase the single pattern HERE too.
