Happy Saturday Guys!

I very rarely post on the weekend, because I’m usually at my “for real job” but I thought why wait until Monday to share with you my hack for the Michael Miller Challenge?! (haha) I was super excited to learn about Michael Miller Fabric’s Pattern Hack Challenge – you know how much I go gaga for Michael Miller Fabrics so the decision to participate in this challenge was a no brainer! The challenge suggests that you hack any pattern, making very small changes or very big changes to the pattern using any fabric from Michael Miller. I had the perfect pattern and fabric in mind!

While pattern testing the Rebel Girl Party Dress by Bella Sunshine Designs I thought it would make for an even more adorable dress WITH pockets! So with Melissa’s blessing, I hacked the Rebel Girl Party Dress making an addition and a few small changes.

Here are my hacks:

1. I created the dress using Michael Miller Delightful Daisy Flutter Midnight and added peek-a-boo pockets (I don’t even know if thats a term, I think I just kinda made that up lol) using contrasting fabric from the same collection called Cottage Path Strawberry.

2. For the skirt lining, I sewed it in backwards so that if it were ever seen you would see the right side of the fabric. (When we get to the action pics you’ll see what I mean 😉 )

3. I used snaps instead of a button hole and button.

4. Instead of a blind hem I used a twin needle, my thread matched the color inside the butterfly so perfectly I couldn’t help but show it off.

And there you have it, 4 little hacks made to an awesome pattern! Now for action pics!

I really love how soft and flowing this particular cotton is.

Then she discovered the dress had pockets! haha! See what I mean about the turing the lining right side out?

If you like the Rebel Girl Party Dress as much as I do you should probably snag the pattern for your self soon! You can find it HERE. The challenge doesn’t end until August 25th, 2015 so I may find myself hacking another pattern, but we shall see if time is on my side.  Thank you for stopping by today guys! Wishing you a safe and fantastic weekend! We’re experiencing a heat wave in Cali, so stay hydrated wherever you are!  xoxo
