Hi guys,

I know its been such a long time since I’ve sewn and posted about it, but here I am and I’m really happy to be back. 2020 has thrown us so many curve balls that I lost my sewjo along the way, and have only began to recently feel good about sewing again, so when Audrey asked if I wanted to sew any of the new looks from the Project Lounge Library Collection for Project Run & Play I was happy to be back at it. Even more so that the looks were so darling and perfectly matched the current “mood” of my 8 year old. She loves to read, and she loves to lounge and she loves to just be cozy. (But that’s kind of all of us right now right? haha). You can view all the whimsical looks of the Library Lounge Collection Look book HERE.

Sidenote: You can win one of the 11 patterns by entering the rafflecopter found at the end of this post so just keep reading.

Abigail is currently reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and it was the perfect combination of pattern, fabric color and book to create this really cute inspired lounge look.

I choose 3 patterns to sew from the collection, and you’ll understand more why they were so perfect once we get to the pants portion of the blog, but for now let’s talk about the Story Dress & Top by Elegance & Elephants Patterns. Fabric used: a super soft waffle knit.

The Story Dress & Top Pattern is a modern take on the dress that Anne Shirley dreamed of wearing: one with puffed sleeves. There are 3 length options plus the adorable cocoon shape and kangaroo pocket. Pattern ranges from sizes 2T – 12.

This top pattern is truly super sweet and a relatively quick sew, it was the perfect pattern to ease myself back into sewing. The only added modification I made was to topstitch around the seams of the sleeve where it was gathered, the cuffs and the neckline with a double needle to give it that puckered textured look.

Now let’s talk about those pants! These are the Prose & Poetry Cargo Joggers from Project Run & Play. And SURPRISE, the are UPCYCLED from one of my linen maternity pants that I actually wore when I was pregnant with her.

Prose and Poetry Cargo Joggers are a woven pants and skirt pattern. Comfort level A+ and totally on trend, these joggers have tons of pockets including a secret one! Their loose fit enables hours and hours of repeated wear. The Prose Cargo Joggers have an elasticated waistband and ankle length elasticated hem. There are options for below the knee shorts and a non-gathered hem. The Poetry Cargo Skirt has an elasticated comfortable waistband, subtle a-line shape and falls to the knee. Pattern ranges from sizes 1 – 16.

This pattern also features a skirt option but we opted for the pants because it has a SECRET pocket feature! Perfect Pattern and Book pairing am I right?! You can choose to do the secret pocket inside or outside, and for this pants, I chose to put it outside.

I didn’t have too much fabric to work with so I had to decide between adding the back pockets or the leg pockets since I couldn’t get both and decided to go with the back pockets.

She loves the comfort of the elastic waste band and the fact that it has 6 pockets! Two in the back, two in the front plus the 2 secret pockets.

We topped it all off (pun intended) with the Bookish Beanine. Apart from this beanie being unisex, it is a perfect scrap buster, it’s reversible, a super quick sew and very stylish for all ages.

The Bookish Beanie is a quick and easy reversible hat that can be styled 4 ways! Wear it slouchy like a beanie, or pull it down snug over the ears with a rolled up brim to keep toasty warm. Pattern ranges from sizes Newborn to Adult.

And there you have it, these 3 sews were the perfect way to ease back into a sewing groove. Not only were they quick but they were super easy especially since I constructed both the Bookish Beanie and Story Top entirely on my Babylock Imagine Serger (minus the double needle topstitching of course).

Now for the good stuff! If you’d like to win one of the patterns in the Library Lounge Collection all you need to do is enter this rafflecopter below: Rafflecopter will last 24 hrs after which then a winner will be contacted.
